LOCATION
Darjon is located on North Eyre Road, Swannanoa, North Canterbury in a quiet rural setting surrounded by traditional sheep and dairy farms, other vineyards and some of New Zealand's largest olive groves and lifestyle properties.

Darjon is just 30 minutes driving time from Christchurch, 25 minutes from Merivale or Oxford, 15 minutes from Kaiapoi and Rangiora. The Christchurch International and Domestic Airports are within 25 minutes drive time.

FACILITIES
The architecturally designed and built “Mission Revival” style function/event venue has five sets of French doors that open out onto a patio and established garden areas offering an ideal setting for “ Garden/Vineyard Wedding Ceremonies”.  However, couples are most welcome to be married at alternative sites for Civil or Religious services some of which are located within a few minutes drive and then guests can fully relax at Darjon for the Wedding Reception.

The Darjon award-winning venue is situated just a few metres from a Vineyard of Riesling and Pinot Noir grapes offering a sheltered, secluded, peaceful and unique Rural ambience, yet located only minutes from a major City. Darjon has….“Sounds of Silence”.

PHOTO SHOOT OPPORTUNITIES
The Darjon Venue is surrounded by a host of easily reached sites for photo shoots eg:  22 acres of horse paddocks and Vineyards, venue gardens, rustic stables, cattle ramp, domains, local show gardens and homesteads. Local photographers have a unique knowledge of the best spots to visit.

CAPACITY
Darjon can seat up to a maximum of 110 guests. However, the venue is also suited to smaller wedding receptions and the Darjon team have on occasions, provided special events for around 20 guests in intimate and often candlelit settings. Larger Weddings to 300 people can also be offered using various Marquee facilities. Non-seated events can be catered for up to 180 persons.

COLOURS
Darjon is simply and neutrally decorated in keeping with the Mission Revival (circa 1880~1930) style of architecture. As such, it allows bridal parties to incorporate colours and decorations of their choice without intrusion or influence from the surrounding areas.

FARE
The Darjon creative planning team works with approved caterers for all events and it is possible to provide for A La Carte, Table d'Hote, French Country Fare, Buffets, Carveries, Gourmet Barbecues, Theme Menus, Continuous Finger Foods, Traditional Banquets, Vegetarian or any style of International Cuisine.

Great emphasis is placed on the use of top quality local ingredients and a high level of presentation created by experienced Chefs.

BEVERAGES
Darjon is both a producer of wine and an exclusive South Island distributor for some of New Zealand's more famous boutique vineyards, enabling it to offer a very exciting award winning Wine List featuring over 100 products at more competitive pricing. The Beverage List includes a selection of New Zealand and imported Beers, Non Alcoholic Beverages, Ports, Sherries, Liqueurs and a limited range of Spirits. Beverages for weddings can be supplied by your caterer or selected from the Darjon range and served by your caterer. Wedding Day Beverages are food matched and tailored to the taste and budget of the couple. Darjon is not licensed for "BYO".

TRANSPORT TO/FROM DARJON
Transport options are extensive, and operators offer excellent quality and value. Helicopters - Limousines - Vintage, Classic or Modern cars - Horse and Carriage - Buses - Taxis - Trucks - etc are just a few of many of the creative methods past clients have used to visit Darjon. Cost effective transport options for guests using buses and shuttles are readily available from a few dollars per head. Parking facilities are available for up to 80 vehicles.

WEDDING PLANNING
The Darjon creative team can provide for every aspect of your wedding and they are available to assist in arranging Marriage Celebrants, Florists, Menus, Wine and Food matching, Photographers, Transport Providers, Musicians, Entertainers, Master of Ceremonies, Cake Specialists, Restaurant decorations/styling etc.

However, couples are welcome to provide these specialist services themselves if preferred.

ACCOMMODATION
Local boutique Home Stays, Lodges and Motels are available with full private facilities and Honeymoon Suites are within easy reach of Darjon. Larger and more comprehensive "Hotel" facilities to International standards are located within 25 minutes drive time.

MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT
Local musicians and entertainers are in abundance to satisfy most tastes. Christchurch is renowned for it's Jazz Schools and University Music Departments. Historically Darjon has hosted classical pianists, quartets and duos, modern entertainers playing a variety of traditional and electronic instruments. Juke boxes, Solo Entertainers, Discos with DJ's are just a few cost effective alternatives.

Darjon has a floor design that has proved to be an excellent surface for dancing continuously from the designated dance floor out through French Doors onto the western Terrace. The garden area is fitted with a concealed speaker system that extends indoor activities and music to all areas if required. Guests can use the CD/Tape player/Amplifier and background music system or plug in their own I-Pod.

The cost of a Darjon Wedding is totally dependant upon what you choose and design to happen during your special day and will include the following standard features:-

  • Table layouts to suit your needs.
  • Padded chairs.
  • Damask table covers and napkins.

  • A decorated Wedding Arch or similar backdrop for civil services.
  • Floral arrangements on stands, plinths or columns.
  • Table centre decorations / styling.
  • Restaurant decorations internal and external.
  • Head table floral decorations.
  • Pre - breakfast Canapés.
  • A "Wedding Breakfast" to your preference designed by Chefs featuring top quality local ingredients.
  • Beverages to your choice selected from a list of over 100 NZ wines, plus beers, juices, non-alcoholic punch and many other products.
